Markos Vouzounerakis
Interior & Industrial Designer
Born in Athens, he studied communication marketing at BCA, and his love for design led him to AKTO College, where he studied in the Product Design department. He then continued his studies at VAKALO Art and Design College in the Interior Design department. Recently, he designed the trophies and commemorative gifts organized by Panathinaikos BC for the 6th Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament, which took place at the Kallimarmaro Stadium.
He introduces us to contemporary art and design, bringing the Greek public in touch with international trends and the most famous names in design. Alessandro Mendini, Anna Gilli, and Giulio Cappellini, who was recently honored by THE TIMES magazine as one of the most important trendsetters in the world, are some of the designers he has hosted in Greece to speak about their work. He has organized and curated several exhibitions focusing on the interaction of contemporary art with design and the harmonious coexistence of lighting, having been featured in international digital and print media. As the founder and creator of RICHE, he has been active in the lighting field for over two decades, having completed numerous studies. A creator and visionary himself, he designs objects and spaces, approaching each project with a holistic perspective.
Further exploring the relationship between light, art, and space, he creates ICON, an artistic lighting entity, offering the public the coexistence of lighting with contemporary art by renowned international visual artists. Vassiliki, Giorgos Zongolopoulos, Constantin Xenakis, and Opy Zouni are some of the artists involved. ICON is both a proposal and an invitation for artists to create specifically for this purpose, with light interacting with their work. Eurydice Trison-Milsani, Ph.D. in Art History from the Sorbonne University and a member of AICA, notes that each work stands on its own; however, its relatively small size allows for the possibility of installation in combination with more than one piece, enabling the viewer to enjoy a complete illuminated work of art.
