Stavros Kotsakis

Light Artist

Stavros Kotsakis studied at the Technical University of Crete, where he obtained a BSc in Production and Management Engineering. He then pursued his postgraduate studies at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, earning an MSc in Quality and Operations Management. Kotsakis is a self-taught light artist.

His passion lies in exploring light, seeking a balance between the fine boundaries of lighting and kinetic art. He creates three-dimensional virtual forms of light. In 2011, he founded his own lighting design studio in Sweden.

Driven by his enthusiasm for lighting and its possibilities, Kotsakis combines perception, ingenuity, creativity, and material experimentation to create collections of luminous virtual entities. These works blur the line between artificial and virtual, moving and static, inviting viewers to engage interactively. His creations are produced in limited editions.
